Mechanical Engineering Technician

DESCRIPTION:

Provides technical assistance for mechanical products and manufacturing lines. Including but not limited to:

  • Hands on support of manufacturing operations, tooling, and equipment.
  • Collaborating with engineers on process and product improvement.
  • Assist with returns analysis and debug of product performance issues related to the product or the manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with engineering and provide support to ensure smooth and efficient operation on a daily basis.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide daily technical support of manufacturing operations.
  • Work with Engineering and/or Maintenance on new machine builds and equipment repairs.
  • Introduce and perform preventive maintenance activities.
  • Purchase tooling and equipment where necessary.
  • Assist engineers with process improvement initiatives, Cost saving projects, and product feature enhancements.
  • Provide root cause analysis on returned products as requested by Production or QA.
  • Provide documentation support for Machine Schematics, Work Instructions, Engineering Change Requests, etc.
  • As required, support product test initiatives by procuring, building and testing products and competitive products.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Trade School, Certificate Program, A.S. Engineering Degree (Mechanical or Manufacturing preferred)
  • One or more years' experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Aptitude for engineering problem solving. Must be a critical thinker with the ability to troubleshoot machine malfunctions.
  • MS Office skills including Word/Excel. CAD modeling is a plus.
  • Able to handle direction and daily production tasks with minimal assistance.
  • Must work well in a team environment with good communication skills.
  • Hands on experience working with tools, equipment, machinery, automotive, carpentry, etc.
