Construction Management Coordinator

As a vital member of the Planning and Projects Division, you will help bring park, recreation, and facility construction projects to life through every stage of the project lifecycle. From early planning and design to construction and close-out, you'll collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage timelines and budgets, and ensure project outcomes align with our mission to create meaningful and lasting public spaces.

Work Environment

This hybrid role is primarily remote following a brief on-site orientation. Occasional in-person presence may be needed based on departmental needs. We value flexibility, but we're also looking for someone who stays actively engaged and connected to the team, regardless of location.

Summary of Work

What You'll Do

Leadership & Operations

  • Reports to and advises the Planning and Projects Division Chief.
  • Partner with the PPD Chief in developing project scopes, budgets, schedules, and objectives that reflect agency goals and priorities.
  • Participate in the selection of architects, engineers, and contractors, and support consultant oversight throughout design and construction.
  • Assist with value engineering, cost estimating, and risk mitigation to ensure effective and responsible project delivery.
  • Contribute to bid preparation, contractor prequalification, bid evaluations, and award recommendations.
  • Supervises staff carpenters and mentors park specific maintenance supervisors with respect to construction, repair and preventative maintenance activities.

Community & Conservation

  • Support informed decision-making by maintaining open communication with internal and external partners or interest groups throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Assist in aligning capital projects and their construction activities with environmental standards, accessibility (ADA) compliance, and conservation values.

Resource Stewardship

  • Review construction design documents for accuracy, constructability, regulatory compliance, and accessibility standards.
  • Coordinate necessary permitting processes and maintain communication with regulatory agencies and utility providers.
  • Help manage project resources efficiently by ensuring accurate and timely inspection and testing documentation, reviewing change order requests and pay applications from consultants, contractors and suppliers.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, landscape architecture, project management, construction management, or a related field.
  • Relevant work experience maybe substituted for degree requirements.
  • Travel to North Dakota State Parks will be required on a regular basis and may require overnight stays.
  • Experience with construction administration.
  • Ability to read construction drawings and interpret specifications.
  • Ability to navigate unimproved areas or construction sites.
  • Working capability with software applications including Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certifications.
  • Strong background and experience in Commercial or Institutional Construction.
