Mechanical Engineer SR 1
Job Description

The Mechanical Engineer SR 1 position requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience and a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited institution. A professional engineer license is highly desirable. The role involves mechanical engineering designs on small to medium retrofit, environmental, and new generation projects, focusing on leading mechanical design activities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design activities including pipe sizing and routing, material selection, pipe support design, valve selection, P&ID development, equipment layout, equipment specifications, and hydraulic calculations.
  • Develop datasheets for valves and other equipment.
  • Provide technical direction to designers.
  • Develop project scopes, schedules, and budgets.
  • Make sound independent decisions with minimal information.
  • Assist in checkout and startup of systems as necessary.
Essential Skills
  • Significant experience with design of new construction and/or retrofit of power generation or heavy industrial facilities.
  • Ability to lead detailed design activities.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering design principles.
  • Proficiency with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in development, preparation, and checking of P&IDs.
  • Experience with overall design and layout of piping systems, pipe sizing and routing, material selection, pipe support design, equipment selection, preparation of inquiry packages/data sheets.
  • Specification of tanks, pumps, and balance of plant equipment.
  • Experience with hydraulic calculations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with Pipe-Flo or similar software is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of processes equipment including piping, valves (manual/control/relief), pumps, pressure vessels, and heat exchangers.
  • Experience with relief valve and control sizing.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with plant staff, design engineering staff, and vendors.
Work Environment

The position is based onsite at the Energy Center, where you'll collaborate with a dynamic team to drive innovation and efficiency in mechanical engineering projects.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $70.00/hr.
