Laborer - Parking Bureau

The purpose of this position is to maintain the cleanliness and functionality of City parking garages and lots. This is accomplished by plowing snow; sweeping sidewalks; picking up leaves; cutting grass; repairing dysfunctional equipment and property; assisting with special events; removing large items from streets and properties; performing grounds maintenance; changing garage lamps; and executing all tasks in a timely and efficient manner. Other duties include operating trash trucks, riding mowers, and garage sweepers.

Performs ground maintenance by picking up litter and trash; trimming weeds; spreading and hauling mulch; plowing snow and ice; removing dead animals from lots and garages and sidewalks; trimming bushes and shrubs; spreading salt; blowing leaves; cleaning gutters; painting walls and fences; cleaning up broken glass; removing graffiti; trimming hedges; and weeding flower beds.

Performs ground maintenance by picking up litter and trash; trimming weeds; spreading and hauling mulch; plowing snow and ice; removing dead animals from lots and garages and sidewalks; trimming bushes and shrubs; spreading salt; blowing leaves; cleaning gutters; painting walls and fences; cleaning up broken glass; removing graffiti; trimming hedges; and weeding flower beds.

Performs facility maintenance by sweeping and mopping floors; cleaning bathrooms; removing trash from bins; providing janitorial maintenance to parking facilities; cleaning windows; and dusting and vacuuming floors and baseboards.

Other duties as assigned.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Valid PA Driver's License.

This position is subject to Article 36, Residency Requirements, of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) between the City of York and the Teamsters Local 776 which currently states that if the Citys Codified Ordinances §165.07 Residency Requirements provides a broader radius/area than what is currently provided by the CBA, than the ordinance language shall control the residency requirements of their membership. Effective May 19, 2022, Ordinance §165.07(c) was amended by City Council to state All persons who shall become employed by the City on or after effective date of this section shall be or become a residents of York County, or any County contiguous to York County (Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, Hartford, Baltimore, and Carrol Counties), within six months from the date the employee achieves permanent employment status.

Must pass a background check, Drug Test and provide a PA Child Abuse Clearance Certificate.

Note: Child Abuse History Clearance must be dated within one year from the date of application and must show that no record exists.
