Summit Truck Bodies is looking for an Automated Machine Operator to monitor and operate automated machines such as lasers, automated brake presses, and other specialized equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Setting up machines, performing calibrations, and making adjustments to maintain optimal performance and product quality.
  • Identifying and resolving issues with machines, including diagnosing problems and performing minor repairs or adjustments.
  • Inspecting finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
  • Monitoring machine performance, conducting routine maintenance tasks, and reporting any major issues to the maintenance team.
  • Ensuring that all work is performed safely and in accordance with company and industry safety protocols.
  • Proficiency in operating automated machinery, understanding machine controls and interfaces, and troubleshooting technical issues.
  • The ability to identify and resolve mechanical problems, analyze data, and make informed decisions.
  • Ensuring accuracy in machine settings, product quality, and adherence to specifications.
  • Effective communication with supervisors, maintenance teams, and other operators to ensure smooth production.
  • May involve physical tasks such as loading materials, lifting parts, and standing for extended periods.
  • Familiarity with computer systems and software used for machine control and data management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

  • Frequent mobility and/or sitting, standing, bending or stooping for prolonged/extended periods.
  • Requires lifting up to 50 pounds frequently.
  • Requires stretching to reach items up to 30 pounds.
  • Requires working in areas which are not ventilated or air-conditioned.
  • Requires eye-hand coordination sufficient to operate machinery.
  • Occasionally works at heights using a ladder or mechanical lift.
  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting, manual and finger dexterity.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
  • Requires working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Requires a normal range of hearing and vision.
  • Must understand vague and implicit instructions and react favorably in all work situations.
  • Must be able to communicate providing verbal feedback in a professional manner.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license with good standing MVR.
  • Must have experience in precision machining and/or related field.
  • Some technical training helpful.
  • Must have basic knowledge and understanding of fabrication machines and tools, including their design, uses, repair and maintenance.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools and equipment.
  • Ability to read gauges, measurement tools, blueprints and work orders.
  • Must have good analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Keen attention to detail is required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with constant demands and shifting of priorities.
  • Ability to work with all levels of employees.
  • Ability to operate forklift if required.
  • Ability to successfully pass a General Abilities Assessment and Post-offer background check, physical and drug screening.
