You'll work closely with experienced operators and supervisors, gaining hands-on experience and developing the skills necessary to operate heavy machinery, primarily front-end loaders, for material handling. Safety is our top priority, and you'll receive comprehensive training on all safety protocols and procedures. 1. Basic Loader Operation (Learning and Observing) Learns the basic operation of front-end loaders used in a landscape rock quarry, under close supervision. This involves observing experienced operators, understanding controls, and asking questions about machine capabilities and limitations. Practices safe operation of loaders in a controlled environment, following all instructions and procedures provided by trainers or supervisors. This includes pre-operation checks, proper loading techniques, and safe movement within the quarry. Gradually progresses towards operating loaders independently for simple tasks, such as moving stockpiled material or loading specific trucks, always under close supervision and with continued guidance. 2. Production Support and Material Handling (Following Instructions) Assists experienced operators with various tasks related to material handling, primarily using a loader to : Load haul trucks efficiently and accurately. Feed crushers or screening plants with raw material. Move and manage stockpiles of finished or unfinished product. Clean up spilled material around loading areas, crushers, and conveyors. Follows clear instructions on how to complete assigned loader tasks safely and efficiently, ensuring proper material segregation and quality. Contributes to maintaining a clean and organized work area around the loader and associated production equipment. As experience grows, may begin to identify areas for improvement in their own loader operation or how they can better support experienced operators and overall production flow. 3. Safety Procedures and Awareness Follows all established safety protocols and procedures on the job site as directed by the supervisor or trainer, with particular attention to heavy equipment operation, blind spots, and communication with ground personnel. Observes experienced loader operators and learns safe work practices to minimize risks associated with loader operation, including proper signaling, maintaining safe distances, and awareness of surroundings. Identifies potential safety hazards related to loader operation or the work environment and reports them to the supervisor immediately. Wears all required personal protective equipment (PPE) while working around or operating equipment. 4. Communication and Learning Maintains clear communication with the supervisor and other team members, asking questions for clarification and keeping them informed of progress, equipment status, and any operational issues. Actively seeks opportunities to learn from experienced operators and trainers by observing, asking questions, and taking notes on best practices for loader operation and quarry processes.
