Operator Trainee**
**Job Description**
Join our production team as an Operator Trainee, where you'll have the opportunity to work with unique carbon rings and seals for the oil industry. You'll start in a machine operator role within our Carbon Pressing Department, where you'll learn to operate machinery that transforms powder carbon into pressed carbon rings, similar to cast iron. This position offers growth potential, as we prefer to promote from within.
**Responsibilities**
+ Operate machines to press carbon powder into rings.
+ Utilize grinding machines to ensure pieces meet size specifications.
+ Conduct quality checks using micrometers and calipers.
+ Perform machine offsets for accurate production.
+ Visually inspect rings for imperfections.
+ Stack and transport rings to a furnace for solidification.
+ Operate lapper machines and monitor production progress.
**Essential Skills**
+ Previous production experience with machinery.
+ Proficiency with micrometers, calipers, and drop gauges.
+ Ability to read and understand blueprints.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Experience with grinding machinery.
+ Familiarity with press machinery, manual machines, thermoforming, or injection molding machines.
+ Strong mechanical aptitude.
+ Understanding of 'ID, OD' concepts.
+ Good vision for handling small parts.

**Work Environment**
Our facility operates with three shifts: 1st shift from 7am-3pm, 2nd shift from 3pm-11pm, and 3rd shift from 11pm-7am. While the environment can be a bit dirty and hot due to the nature of carbon production, we provide uniforms and a daily laundry service for just $2 a week. Our smaller facility provides a chance to work closely with a dedicated team, offering a great entry point into the CNC field. English proficiency, a GED or diploma, and willingness to undergo a drug test and background check are required.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Crystal Lake, IL, Illinois.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
