AWS MOTOR is seeking a result-oriented Sr Construction Manager (Sr CM) for AMER Construction in MOTOR organization. The Sr Construction Manager is responsible for the construction of Manufacturing, AWS Cloud Logistics, ReCycle Reverse Logistics and AARD-vark (AI Assembly, Repair, and Debug Operations) Integration facilities that are business critical. Business critical builds may have accelerated schedules, first-of-kind designs, or new equipment/labor vendors. A Sr CM has sustained work experience on all phases of a facility construction project, including site development, shell construction, and tenant improvement (TI). They are responsible for the safety, cost, quality, and delivery performance of their build. In addition, Sr CMs support the continuous development of the organization through process improvements. They have demonstrated they can identify, initiate, and support internal and external initiatives with regional impact. Sr CMs are recognized as role models in their respective regions and support the professional development of the organization through interviewing, on-boarding, and mentoring.

Possess a foundational knowledge of critical equipment (Generators, UPS, Switchgear, Transformers, Power Feeders & Busduct, Chillers, Plumbing, Fire Detection/Suppression, Air Handling Units, Computer Room Air Handling/Conditioning Units).
Perform constructability reviews of critical scopes associated with the construction of new buildings and sites to drive improvements and avoid cost or schedule impacts.
Perform construction phasing evaluations in for civil, architectural, structural, electrical fields for potential sites
Determine and communicate site requirements that could impact schedule, cost, delivery of the work and integration of site with surrounding properties.
Conduct negotiations with general contractors and potentially other partners to evaluate bids, proposals, and scoping documents for completeness with detail and accuracy.
Manage GC and other third-party vendors delivering preconstruction services during the design phase.
Define construction scopes and request for proposals to General Contractors. Review bid summaries, schedules and milestones, pricing, in subcontractor level bid evaluations.
Support issuance of contracting documents (i.e., Work Orders, Purchase Orders, Work Letters)
Develop handoff project documentation to Construction Manager partners.
Collect, evaluate, and share lessons learned to direct teammates, and peers in design, and construction teams to achieve continuous improvement across the entire program.
Identify, develop, and implement team wide process improvements in our tools, processes, and documents.
Ability to travel 25% of the time.

Additional responsibilities
Lead cross-functional teams and manage programs and processes simultaneously.
Engage with technical experts and key stakeholders to initiate new programs, including developing new processes and program documentation.
Identify process and communications gaps, while developing and driving solutions.
Develop and maintain lessons learned and establish mechanisms to share this with teams.
Work closely with stakeholders on key program initiatives to develop and implement procedures and systems that continually improve and streamline the program.
Drive simplification and automation to evolve processes, services, and solutions, to increase agility and efficiencies and lower costs.
Establish a metrics-driven, programmatic approach to strategic initiatives to develop improvements and efficiencies.
Gather, define, refine, and drive requirements for program process, standards, and system
Implementation requirements needed to monitor & report on construction programs across multiple geographic regions with little or no direction from management.
Define & evaluate KPIs derived from program milestone, estimate, spend forecast, and cost/resource loaded schedule performance.

A day in the life
The Sr CM delivers their build achieving metrics for safety, cost, quality, and delivery. They understand the importance of continuous improvement and identify process improvements to improve build metrics. They look to standardize solutions and scale across regions for the betterment of the organization. They work in conjunction with Design Engineering, Environmental, Technical Infrastructure Program Management, Power & Cooling, Procurement, Real Estate, Legal, Security, Finance, Commissioning, Controls, Energy, and Infra Operations.

About the team
The AWS Manufacturing Operations Transportation Operations and Reverse Logistics team (MOTOR) manages AWS and 3rd Party (3P) Supply Chain activities that include the following operations: 1) Inbound supplier-owned component warehousing and finished rack storage 2) Server and Rack assembly and 3) Reverse Logistics operations.

Supply Chain Facilities Management (SCFM) drive a global strategy to support the MOTOR vertical pillars (ACL, RRL, MFG) via standardization of space planning, design and construction, periodic and preventative maintenance, and security of our portfolio of global Supply Chain Facilities. The team support facilities, security and critical projects across our portfolio of buildings globally. The team manages our Integrated Facilities Management (IFM) partner comprising Facilities Managers, Building Engineers, Maintenance Technicians and Facilities Coordinators and global Design and QS contractor resources. Our goal is to provide essential proactive building preventive maintenance, high velocity service outage responsiveness, facility and project cost savings, optimal security posture aligned with HSCS guidance and structured project management services. Additionally, we see tremendous opportunity to leverage our core competency in facility and project management to deliver operational efficiencies to partner teams across AIS. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Basic Qualifications:
7+ years of project management/ portfolio management/ program management / construction management
5+ years experience in core project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management
5+ experience of large, complex projects involving large-scale mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) plants.
Experience with varying stages of infrastructure builds inclusive of project builds, spanning from Design to Project Hand-off.
Knowledge of best practices and emerging technologies, related to facility infrastructure build (i.e. construction sequence, commissioning, controls and networking).
The ability to work independently and self-motivate in a rapidly changing environment
Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to influence and manage stakeholders

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

7+ years of project management/ portfolio management/ program management / construction management
5+ years experience in core project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management
