Electrical Maintenance Mechanic Location: Melrose Park, IL 1st & 2nd Shift Availability Pay: $32 – $37/hr (Based on Experience) Industry: Book Printing & Manufacturing

What You’ll Do:
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems (motors, PLCs, VFDs, relays, sensors – up to 480V).

  • Perform preventive maintenance on printing presses, collators, stitchers, trimmers, and packaging machines.

  • Read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.

  • Diagnose mechanical issues involving pneumatics, hydraulics, and conveyors.

  • Log repairs and PMs in a CMMS system.

  • Collaborate with production teams to reduce downtime and increase machine reliability.

  • Always follow LOTO and safety procedures.

What You Bring:
  • 3+ years of electrical/mechanical maintenance experience in a manufacturing or printing environment.

  • strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, PLCs, VFDs, and motors.

  • Familiarity with bindery and press equipment like Heidelberg or Müller Martini is a plus.

  • Ability to work independently, troubleshoot fast, and stay cool under pressure.

  • Comfortable on your feet and lifting up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform electrical and mechanical maintenance on offset and digital printing presses, bindery, collating, cutting, stitching, and packaging equipment.

  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems including motors, relays, sensors, PLCs, VFDs , and control panels (up to 480V).

  • Conduct preventive maintenance (PM) to reduce downtime and extend the lifespan of machinery.

  • Respond to emergency breakdowns and complete root cause analysis to implement long-term fixes.

  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams , and technical manuals to diagnose issues.

  • Install, modify, and upgrade equipment as directed to support production needs.

  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to improve equipment performance and minimize disruptions.

  • Maintain accurate records of work orders, repairs, and parts used in CMMS or maintenance log systems.

  • Follow all safety protocols , lockout/tagout procedures, and company policies to ensure a safe working environment.



The essential functions of this role include:
