Principal Objective of Position:

The Site Manager is responsible for overseeing daily operations at the facility, providing leadership and guidance across ferrous and non-ferrous operations, truck dispatching, maintenance, and administrative functions. This role also includes a strong focus on business development and customer relations, with a goal of expanding business opportunities, fostering customer satisfaction, and building community relationships.

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of all operational areas and be prepared to support staffing gaps during absences, vacations, or peak periods.
  • Assist in managing and executing:
    • Inbound and outbound logistics
    • Material intake and payment processes
    • Equipment and facility maintenance
    • Site cleanliness and upkeep
  • Direct daily ferrous and non-ferrous activities, assign tasks, and ensure operational efficiency.
  • Monitor team productivity and provide coaching and performance feedback.
  • Assist in recruitment and termination processes; oversee onboarding and training of new hires.
  • Provide on-site coverage for both office and yard operations when needed.
  • Support sales prospecting, marketing efforts, and business development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead employee training initiatives and ensure workforce readiness.
  • Resolve internal and external operational issues.
  • Serve as a liaison between staff and upper management.
  • Coordinate operational and commercial priorities to optimize workflow and meet performance goals.
  • Maintain regular communication with key accounts and customers.
  • Identify new business opportunities and pursue retail and commercial account growth.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education and Experience Required:

  • High School diploma or equivalent, required
  • Minimum of three years of managing or leadership experience
  • Prior Metals Recycling experience preferred

Work Environment:

This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Additionally, this position will fill-in with various other areas, which may include exposure to outside elements in all weather conditions.
