Preconstruction Manager
  • Maintain business opportunity pipeline.
  • Coordinate with key internal and external personnel to develop an appropriate understanding of project requirements.
  • Mentor subordinate personnel in professional development.
  • Regularly participate in presentations to secure new work.
  • Oversee preparation of detailed estimates, including schematic, design development, and construction.
  • Participate in the value engineering process to align project scope with clients' budgets.
  • Prepare and analyze cost models during design development.
  • Lead in the solicitation process to ensure proper bid coverage.
  • Coordinate the assembly of preconstruction material for presentation purposes to the owner.
  • Have a working knowledge of material unit costs, systems square foot costs, and total building square foot costs.
  • Coordinate projects with preconstruction members and support staff.
  • Stay informed on changes and trends in construction methods and materials, costs, wage rates, and working rules.
  • Visit ongoing projects to verify the status of estimates versus project status, meet with project operations teams, and view work in place.
  • Understand the bid/Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) process as it relates to project financial success.
  • Ensure completion of manpower projections for future construction and Special Projects.
  • Interact with general contractors, owners, design professionals, company associates, and other parties with positive results.
  • Effectively communicate with both written and verbal skills.
  • Advocate for the company with current and potential customers and other stakeholders.
  • Implement industry best practices to maximize profitability and client sustainability.
  • Ensure high service levels to potential and current customers or clients.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving skills by identifying problems and providing solutions.
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience in construction, preconstruction, construction management, estimation, project management, bid evaluation, project costing, and engineering.
  • Background in MEP, HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to comprehend complex written and verbal instructions.
  • Clear communication skills in written and verbal English.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Proficient in Database Estimation Software (Quotesoft preferred).
  • Unencumbered US Drivers license.
  • Eligibility to work in the U.S.
  • Bachelors Degree in engineering, business, or a construction-related field, or at least 10 years MEP field experience.
  • Minimum of three years (five or more for senior level) of experience in commercial construction.
  • Proven track record of sales or estimating abilities.
Work Environment

The work environment is dynamic, encouraging teamwork and a positive work ethic. You will report to the Director of Preconstruction and engage with various stakeholders to achieve project success. The role requires regular visits to ongoing projects to assess progress and ensure alignment with estimates. Dress code is business casual.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $100000.00/yr.
