Job Description We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to support a program focused on the design and development of the Columbia Class Submarine, specifically the integrated power system. This critical role involves working directly with the shipbuilder to identify, assemble, manage, direct, and coordinate all resources required for the design, construction, testing, and evaluation of the future submarine's power system. This position plays a vital role in supporting the Navy's mission and ensuring dominance over the seas. Responsibilities
- Support the design and development of the Integrated Power System, including the generation and distribution of all electrical power, controlling systems for all components, high power conversion modules, and control components.
- Collaborate closely with Naval Reactors, PMS 397, the shipbuilder, and component vendors to maintain the highest standards.
- Provide technical review of vendor components and offer expertise and recommendations for approval or change.
- Support the compatibility test facility in Philadelphia, PA, where components undergo testing.
- Electrical engineering expertise.
- Proficiency in electrical design and technical writing.
- Knowledge of electrical maintenance and AC/DC power distribution.
- Experience with control systems.
- Active Secret Clearance.
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or other technical fields.
- Minimum of two years of experience in design, maintenance, operation, and issue resolution of complex electrical systems.
- Experience in technical writing and review.
- Familiarity with high power conversion modules and control systems.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
- Preferred Navy Nuclear Propulsion experience at a prototype, nuclear shipyard, or shipboard.
