The Complex Tools Diagnostic Engineer reports to the Complex Tools & Diagnostic Hardware Supervisor. The Complex Tools Diagnostic Engineer is responsible for managing Powertrain related Service Functions, DTCs and DID entries for all Global Programs supported by Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) and Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS).

RESPONSIBILITIES

In this position...

  • Work with Powertrain and Electrical & Electronics Systems Engineering (EESE) organizations to ensure upstream vehicle programs support core diagnostic requirements.
  • Support data entry, application authoring, and validation on Powertrain functions.
  • Support definition and diagnostic tool support on new and emerging technologies.

What you'll do...

  • Work with Technical Service Operations (TSO) Workshop Manual (WSM) and Powertrain Controls and Emissions Diagnostics (PCED) development to ensure consistent diagnostic content.
  • Ensure all core diagnostic support is available in the field for new vehicle OK to buy dates.
  • Assist with Field Concerns related to the Complex Tools area.
  • Interfaces with Product Engineering on high warranty related areas as appropriate.
  • Provide support for logging of engineering related vehicle data.
  • Maintain existing engine and transmission functional tests.
  • Implement EVAP and OBDII related tests on New Vehicles.
  • Support development of future generation diagnostic/service products and procedures.
  • Support Bosch Vehicle Measurement System (VMS).
QUALIFICATIONS

You'll have...

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Science or Automotive Engineering/Technology.
  • 2+ years of experience in an Automotive Background or Dealership Experience is required.

Even better, you may have...

  • Knowledge in Unified Diagnostic Services (UDS).
  • Experience with XML Authoring tools such as Grade-X Editor (OTX), Java Code, and other XML scripting Software.
  • Experience with Agile Project Management using tools such as Rally and/or Jira.
  • Strong Program Management skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
