Overview

The State of Vermont Military department is looking for a Master Plumber, to work at Camp Johnson in Colchester. This work focuses on plumbing & HVAC work involving the design, installation, and maintenance of routine and complex plumbing, heating, and cooling systems. You will develop, perform, and oversee systems installation and maintenance work involving the heating, ventilation, and cooling equipment.

This position performs both routine and complex plumbing- HVAC systems installation and repair work on all plumbing, heating, cooling systems in your assigned area. You will also supervises all plumbing work performed within their assigned location and act as a consultant to district staff on plumbing systems and coordinating.

Environmental Factors

Work is performed at Military Department facilities in Vermont. An incumbent often works near or with hazardous materials, including ammunition and unexploded ordinance. Incumbents may encounter harassment or hostile behavior and must be able to respond in a calm and professional manner. Removing snow on runways, and exposure to loud noises. An incumbent occasionally operates heavy equipment, and Since work is performed at a military installation, an incumbent must be eligible to obtain and hold a secret security clearance issued by the federal government. An incumbent must be able to climb ladders and lift equipment and materials weighing as much as fifty pounds, and work in cramped, wet, or poorly ventilated areas. Work is performed in all kinds of weather. Some work outside of normal working hours may be required, including travel and overnight stay. Some potential for physical injury may be present.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent AND State of Vermont Master Plumber's License

EPA Universal Refrigerant Recovery Certificate 608 and licensed in natural gas and/or propane, Comply with plumbing and HVAC code requirements.

Position requires possession of a valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

Certified in natural gas, propane.

Special Requirements

Incumbents of this job are issued a Department of Defense Common Access Card (CAC), which is issued only upon passing a federal background check (Tier 1) including a fingerprint-supported criminal record check. Candidates must obtain the CAC for successful completion of original probation. Possession of the CAC is a condition of employment."

Work is performed at a military installation; an incumbent must be eligible to obtain and hold a secret security clearance issued by the federal government.
