WSP is actively seeking an Alternative Delivery Project Director to join our dynamic Alternative Delivery team. This position can be based in any of our WSP office locations, with a preference for Denver, CO.

Job Description:

  • The Alternative Delivery Project Director (ADPD) / Sponsor oversees a portfolio of several large alternative delivery projects, ensuring effective strategies are developed and executed to win targeted opportunities with the right partners, meet margin goals, and manage risk for the complete life cycle of alternative delivery projects. The ADPD is also responsible for ensuring that best practices and standard operating procedures (SOPs) are implemented through project management teams to achieve budget, schedule, and technical quality targets, while promoting continuous improvement and leveraging firmwide resources for consistent financial and technical results.
  • This role demands strong communication and collaboration abilities to engage effectively with firmwide leaders to build consensus and drive continuous improvement, including interactions with business line executives, regional executives, project managers, and project technical leaders. Critical interactions will include project opportunity selection, team formation, risk management and mitigation strategies, pricing, project staffing, client engagement, formation and execution of delivery strategies, identification and implementation of cutting-edge technologies, as well identification of lessons learned to promote ongoing enhancements to firmwide SOPs.
  • The ADPD may be assigned additional responsibilities pertaining to national/regional client account management for designated contractors and/or concessionaires. In this capacity, the ADPD will develop and execute a national or regional relationship plan that capitalizes on the firm's geographic presence and diverse and deep technical expertise, facilitates the identification of client priorities and needs, and collaborates with firmwide resources to provide solutions tailored to the client's primary needs. The objective is to strategically position WSP as a preferred teaming partner for upcoming Alternative Delivery projects in the markets and regions that they are strongest.

General Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of an alternative delivery project's life cycle including

  • Provide analysis and input during the strategic planning process and decisions related to pursuit and selection of potential opportunities and teaming partners.

  • Assist with business development efforts during contractor/concessionaire teaming discussions.

  • Coach and mentor project teams during the pre- and post-award phases of the project.

  • Support the development of the pre- and post-award work plans, fee proposals, scope exclusions, and participate in creation and implementation of negotiation strategies.

  • Ensure that project plans (such as schedules, quality, safety, and communication) are developed and updated as necessary.

  • Participate in project cost reviews, change management, and support the development and implementation of recovery plans as required.

  • Assist in development and implementation of strategies to maintain a positive and proactive cash position.

  • Monitor the timely delivery of project deliverables and ensure compliance with firmwide policies related to quality.

  • Oversee the development and implementation of appropriate contract administration, client approval documentation, monitoring, and invoicing procedures specific to Design Services During Construction (DSDC).

  • Facilitate teams' smooth transitions between project phases (e.g., pre- and post-award, post-award and DSDC) and promote a strong project closeout.

  • Lead project teams through After-Action Reviews to promote continuous learning and updates to firmwide SOPs.

  • Coach and mentor project teams to achieve project goals, objectives, and timely completion of deliverables within established budgets.

  • Facilitate the development of effective solutions for technical and business challenges that may impact project success.

  • Collaborate with the project teams to proactively develop contingency and recovery plans and help communicate potential challenges to leadership in a timely manner.

  • Available to engage with clients regularly regarding project progress through monthly reporting while coordinating interactions with the broader team.

  • Foster a proactive, collaborative environment with regional business leaders, project teams, client representatives, teammates, and other stakeholders as required for project success.

  • Enforce company safety, quality, and technical standards.

  • Adhere to all internal processes and procedures related to assigned responsibilities.

  • Participate in and/or develop approach to participation in industry events (e.g., Moles, Beavers, DBIA, ARTBA, etc.).

  • Assist with additional duties as delegated by firmwide leaders.

  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent relevant field
  • 15+ years of experience
  • Proven leadership skills and previous project management experience on successively larger and more complex projects is required
  • Involvement in appropriate industry societies
  • Strong computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Office and relevant software
  • Strong technical written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to clearly articulate complex technical and financial accounting concepts
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Strong ability to quickly adapt to change and demonstrate flexibility to a variety of schedules and hours to meet business needs.

Compensation:

Expected Salary (all locations): $169,500 - $341,200

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.

Expected Salary (Colorado only): $169,500 - $320,300

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position within the state of Colorado, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
