The Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer (SQAE) ensures that suppliers deliver products and services in accordance with established specifications, standards, and regulatory requirements. This role works collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to monitor, evaluate, and improve supplier performance and resolve quality issues to support uninterrupted production. Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned as needed):Develop, implement, and maintain supplier quality assurance processes and metrics.Evaluate new and existing suppliers through audits, assessments, and performance reviews.Lead and coordinate supplier PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) submissions and approvals.Investigate and resolve supplier-related quality issues using root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).Drive continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers to reduce defects, improve delivery, and ensure compliance with company standards.Monitor supplier performance (KPIs) and develop supplier scorecards.Collaborate with Engineering, Purchasing, and Quality teams during supplier selection, qualification, and approval.Facilitate supplier development activities including training, process improvements, and alignment with quality system requirements.Communicate quality issues and expectations to suppliers in a clear, professional, and timely manner.Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and customer requirements. Qualifications:Bachelors degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related field.Minimum of three years experience in supplier quality, manufacturing or quality engineering roles. Automotive manufacturing preferred. Technical Competencies:Visual acuity to read prints, drawings, GD&T, work instructions, and machine displays, and to monitor product quality.Working knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO14001/45001 and APQP/PPAP process.Proficiency in quality tools such as 8D, FMEA, SPC, and Root Cause Analysis.Manual dexterity for operating control panels and using hand tools. Non-Technical Competencies:Effective communication skills (verbal, written, listening)Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Collaboration and relationship-building skills.Detail-oriented and highly organized.Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining focus on safety and quality standards.
