Job Title: Mechanical Engineer (Full Cycle)

Job Description

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for developing water-based fire protection products or system concepts and detailed designs. Your role will involve prototype generation and testing to international standards, conducting detailed studies to support design decisions, and maintaining records of the design process in accordance with sound design practices.

Responsibilities

  • Develop product and equipment specifications to support decisions on initial design direction.
  • Stay informed of the company's product offerings to support initial design decisions.
  • Maintain knowledge of manufacturing operations to assess design concepts for manufacturability.
  • Conduct feasibility, cost, optimization, stress, fluids, and thermal analyses.
  • Provide technical information on manufacturing and processing techniques, materials, properties, and limitations.
  • Keep abreast of technology developments to identify opportunities for technical improvements and cost reductions.
  • Collaborate with research personnel and technical functions to resolve problems and develop designs.
  • Ensure compliance with general industry and specific agency approval requirements.
  • Prepare and oversee design layouts, detailed drawings, and specifications.
  • Direct and coordinate prototype development.
  • Compile and analyze operational, test, and research data to establish and evaluate performance standards.
  • Plan, develop, conduct, and oversee experimental test programs.
  • Organize and lead meetings as needed.
  • Prepare and present reports and presentations.
  • Perform all job duties in accordance with established procedures.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university.
  • 5-10 years' experience in mechanical engineering, fire protection engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Self-directed with the ability to strategize test plans without established protocols.
  • Strong on-time and quality project delivery skills.
  • Ability to apply fundamental engineering theories, mathematics, mechanics, and physical science concepts.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment with strong communication skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing situations.
  • Capability to write reports and convey detailed technical information.
  • High attention to detail and solid organizational skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with full product lifecycle development: design, test, manufacture, support.
  • Test planning skills.
  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering and fire suppression.

Work Environment

You will work onsite in a state-of-the-art facility where all design, testing, and prototyping take place. You will have the opportunity to see your designs tested and built. The position offers a temp-to-hire opportunity over 6-9 months, includes holidays on the clients schedule, and provides PTO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $65.00/hr.
