Job Title: Assistant Project Manager

Job Description

The Assistant Project Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the Project Manager and field staff in efficiently managing daily tasks associated with project workflow, manpower, and scheduling. This position requires a disciplined and proactive individual who can assist with various tasks related to the workflow of assigned projects.

Responsibilities

  • Advise Project Manager of potential problems, work interferences, and schedule concerns, and assist in resolving these issues.
  • Collaborate with project staff to create strategic action plans and cost estimates for materials, time, labor, and resources needed for project completion.
  • Assist Project Manager with the development and maintenance of project schedules.
  • Perform estimating and takeoff assignments as required.
  • Review submittals and update project status.
  • Update drawings and specifications as needed.
  • Recognize when Requests for Information (RFIs) are warranted and follow through with documentation and pricing of RFI responses.
  • Assist in preparing project billings, special reports, studies, and other client or project management requests.
  • Assist with meeting and presentation preparation.
  • Issue various forms of client communications, including letters, emails, and updates.
  • Assist with material procurement and coordination.
  • Recommend and analyze materials, equipment, and practices used in the project.
  • Oversee and process day-to-day administrative tasks.
  • Collaborate with Project Manager to identify and troubleshoot problems.
  • Participate in cost controls by comparing actual labor and material costs to estimates.
  • Interact with field personnel as needed to maintain project progress.
  • Assist Project Manager in training less experienced team members.
  • Utilize MOE software and programs such as CRS, PTS, Apex, ConEst, and Sage.

Essential Skills

  • 1+ years of experience preferred.
  • Broad understanding of all functional areas of the electrical service industry.
  • Basic proficiency in accounting, general office software, and business development processes.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical Engineering preferred), Construction Management, or related field. Applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
  • Familiarity with electrical field concepts, practices, best practices, and procedures.
  • Technical ability to understand and interpret Electrical Codes, Life Safety Codes, NFPA, Uniform Building Codes, and Lighting Systems.
  • Experience with MS Office.
  • 2+ years experience as an electrical Project Manager.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $130000.00/yr.
