Welder Job Description We are seeking a skilled Welder to join our team, specializing in the custom fabrication of shell and tube heat exchangers, ASME Pressure Vessels, and Tanks. The role involves working with items up to 15 feet in diameter, 120 feet in length, and up to 320,000 pounds. You will be performing MIG flux-core welding on a variety of stainless, carbon, and precious metals using 045 wire. If trained, you may also perform TIG welding and fitting, along with code welding and blueprint reading. Responsibilities Perform welding on fabricated heat exchangers, pressure vessels, and tanks. Custom fabricate steel products according to specifications. Read and interpret blueprints and weld symbols accurately. Apply knowledge of ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code, Section VIII, Division 1. Layout and fabricate products efficiently. Lift and handle materials weighing over 50 pounds. Work at heights between 15 to 20 feet in the air safely. Essential Skills Proficiency in MIG welding and flux core welding. Strong knowledge of weld symbols. Experience with the ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code. Physical capability to lift heavy objects and work at heights. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with layout and fabrication welding. Blueprint reading skills (training available). Past certification in code welding. AWS certification. Degree or certification from a welding school. Experience welding tanks and vessels. TIG tubing skills. Knowledge of sub-arc (S.A.W.) and back gouging techniques. Why Work Here? Work Environment Work in a spacious facility consisting of four buildings on a six-acre site, offering 50,000 square feet of production floor space. Handle large products, with some weighing over 60 tons and measuring over 100 feet. The position operates on the first shift from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Decatur, Illinois. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $30.00/hr.
