Laborer:
The temporary (seasonal) employee must be able to safely and efficiently operate light to medium, manual and motorized tools and equipment including mowing tractors. The temporary employee will be responsible for the operation of selected tools and/or equipment in the reconstruction, improvement, and maintenance of county roads, drainage ditches, and bridges. The temporary employee must also be able to perform related manual work utilizing a weed eater, bush axe, shovel, vibratory compactors, chainsaw, etc. in a safe, workman-like manner to maintain and improve County rights-of-way. The temporary employee shall be responsible for routine equipment up-keep and perform daily equipment inspections including checking fluids, tire pressure, grease points, etc. prior to beginning operations each day. The temporary employee must be able to complete daily equipment maintenance and maintenance reports. The temporary employee must be willing to assist other crews within the department as needed. Works for the Highway Department Monday-Thursday 7:00am-5:00pm (on call as necessary).

Operations
1.
Loads and unloads dirt, debris, construction material and supplies from trucks and other vehicles.
2.
Operate hand tools (shovel, bush axe, weed eater, etc.).
3.
Operate light to medium motorized equipment.
4.
Cleans culverts, drains and ditches.
5.
Assists in the maintenance of county paved and dirt roads spreading sand, gravel or asphalt.
6.
Removes obstructions from county roads and right of ways such as trees, limbs and debris.
7.
Applies patching materials to road surfaces.
8.
Mowing of Rights of Ways.
9.
Flags and directs traffic during road construction.
10.
Perform routine manual labor with other crews as needed.
11.
Willing to respond to callouts when deemed necessary by the Supervisor.
B.
Equipment Maintenance
1.
Prior to operating equipment; perform safety and maintenance inspection of assignedequipment.
2.
Perform light maintenance and servicing in connection with equipment operated.
3.
Notify Supervisor of mechanical or safety problems.
