Highway Engineer I
Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Highway Engineer I to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited program or equivalent experience. With a minimum of five years of relevant experience and a Pennsylvania PE licensure, you will play a crucial role in designing and delivering innovative highway engineering solutions. Expertise with PennDOT ECMS and PennDOT AutoTAB programs is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Develop preliminary engineering deliverables such as design criteria, line/grade/typical section, and design field view.
  • Create final design deliverables including roadway plans, specifications, and engineer's estimates.
  • Prepare supporting design deliverables such as design exception requests, safety review reports, constructability reviews, right-of-way plans, traffic control plans, and signing/pavement marking plans.
  • Conduct quality control reviews and ensure achievement of key project milestones.
  • Perform field views and observations of construction projects to enhance understanding of construction practices.
  • Solve problems with innovative solutions and maintain professional registration and licensure.
  • Stay informed of all applicable federal, state, and local codes, criteria, regulations, and ordinances.
  • Provide technical guidance and assign tasks to junior and support staff.
  • Manage discipline and small multidisciplinary teams, ensuring adherence to company and project contractual requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned within the scope of practice.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of five years relevant experience.
  • Pennsylvania PE licensure.
  • Experience with PennDOT ECMS and PennDOT AutoTAB programs.
  • Proficiency in production software and construction document production.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively interact with clients, customers, contractors, and other key stakeholders.
  • Experience with OpenRoads and InRoads.
  • PennDOT and Turnpike experience is essential.
  • Solid design experience in civil engineering, roadway design, and traffic engineering.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $150000.00 - $200000.00/yr.
