Covia is looking for a highly motivated, skilled individual to fill the position of Journeyman Electrician at our Nepheline Syenite Operation located at the Blue Mountain Plant.
The candidate will be required to perform the following duties.
- The Individual must be able to inspect and examine equipment failures and make recommendations for sustainable repair solutions.
- Provide recommendations for equipment maintenance improvements to reduce down time and improve reliability
- Install electrical/electronic equipment/wiring to Electrical Code and Covia electrical standards
- Maintain, troubleshoot and repair PLCs
- Be able to perform soldering operations.
- Be able to test and troubleshoot DC motors and drives.
- Be able to test and troubleshoot AC motors and drives.
- Be able to troubleshoot and maintain motor control circuits.
- Be able to calibrate, troubleshoot and maintain belt weighing devices.
- Be able to maintain and replace control valves, actuators and positioners.
- Be able to perform a range of physical activities such as climbing stairs and vertical ladders.
- Correctly complete work orders and checklists including signing and dating.
- Be familiar with thermography and fully understand the uses.
Required Skills
- Must hold a valid Electrical trade certificate either Industrial Electrician or Construction and Maintenance Electrician.
- 3-5 years of experience required preferred.
- Able to demonstrate the ability to interpret various Blue prints and Electrical diagrams.
- Must be able to demonstrate the ability to lead other team members in various jobs.
- Must be able to work at heights and obtain certification
- The individual must be able to obtain certification for the following equipment; Elevated work platforms, Class 7 Fork lift and Crane certification both Mobile and fixed.
- Experience with Allen Bradly PLC’s as well as the ability to make small programming changes when required.
- The individual must demonstrate proficiency in troubleshooting both 575v and control circuits.
- Be able to demonstrate knowledge of Arc flash and required PPE.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Computer literacy
- Be committed to safety
- Valid driver’s license
- The individual must be able to work a rotating days and afternoon schedule
