Description
The Division of Engineering and Contract Administration (DECA) is responsible for managing the State's capital construction projects for a majority of the Executive Branch agencies across the State. The Statewide Project Manager-Licensed is a position for a licensed architect or engineer. Multiple using agencies across the state depend on DECA for assistance in managing their capital construction projects. The Statewide Project Branch Manager review budgets, monitor expenditures, coordinate design and observe construction throughout the process.
The position requires travel with occasional overnight stays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manages professional consultants and construction contractors
- Approves all phases of design
- Approves payments for progression of the projects
- Serves on selection committees for the selection of professional consultants
- Assists agencies in identifying building needs and establishing budgets
- Develops and maintains project records and documents
- Participates in construction meetings and inspections and assists in resolving design and construction issues
Knowledge/Skill/Abilities:
- Applicant should be licensed architect or engineer
- Good computer skills
- Detailed and organized
- Good communication skills
- Able to work with customers and providers and must be able to hold contractors to their schedule.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have two years of experience above that required for licensure.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must be licensed as a professional architect by the State Board of Examiners and Registration of Architects OR, must be licensed as a professional engineer by the State Board of Licensure for Engineers and Land Surveyors . gov Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification (s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials.
Working Conditions
Work typically is in an office setting and at construction sites. Work at construction sites may involve walking around dirty and dusty environments, asbestos, dynamite, and noise, which may require compliance with safety procedures. Extensive travel throughout the Commonwealth is generally required. Self-management and prioritization of specific work tasks is required.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
