Electrical Engineering Technician

Salary Range: $35-$44/hr

Position Summary:
Kelly Engineering is seeking an Electrical Engineering Technician for our client in Addison, IL. This role demands expertise in the assembly, wiring, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical systems, particularly low- and medium-voltage switchgear. The ideal candidate will possess advanced technical knowledge and hands-on experience, coupled with the ability to collaborate across teams to ensure the reliability and performance of electrical components.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assemble switchgear panels, control cabinets, and related electrical components using engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Wire electrical parts such as circuit breakers, relays, transformers, and busbars according to schematics.
  • Terminate, label, and connect cables, wires, and harnesses as required.
  • Perform continuity, insulation resistance, and functional tests on assembled equipment.
  • Identify and correct wiring or assembly errors to meet electrical and quality standards.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues in electrical systems during and after assembly.
  • Ensure all work complies with electrical codes, industry regulations, and company quality standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to promote a safe environment.
  • Accurately document wiring changes, assembly notes, and testing results.
  • Collaborate with engineers, production personnel, and QC to meet build schedules and drive innovation.
Qualifications:
  • Technical certification or associate degree in electrical engineering technology, industrial electricity, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in electrical wiring, switchgear assembly, or a related hands-on electrical role.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.
  • Proficiency with hand/power tools such as wire strippers, crimpers, drills, screwdrivers, etc.
  • Basic knowledge of the NEC and other relevant codes.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Experience in project management and leading technical teams is a plus.
  • Conduct routine quality inspections throughout the production or manufacturing process, including in-process and final inspections.
  • Maintain documentation of all inspections and potential issues.
  • Assist with problem resolution and suggest process improvements.
