AFETY/SECURITY SENSITIVE DESIGNATION & JOB OBJECTIVE
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position is not designated as a safety/security sensitive position and is not subject to random drug and alcohol screening.
JOB OBJECTIVE: To assign and direct the inspection and code enforcement activities of plumbing and gas inspectors; to review plans of proposed commercial buildings for conformance with codes.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Plumbing and Gas Inspectors
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS These knowledge, skills, and abilities are usually, although not always, acquired through completion of standard high school course, four (4) years of experience in installing and maintaining plumbing and gas systems, or two (2) years of experience in Plumbing and Gas Inspection and Code Enforcement and one (1) year of supervisory experience. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess a valid Arkansas Class D (Non-Commercial Vehicle) Drivers License before employment and maintain licensure for the duration of employment in this position.
- Must possess a valid Arkansas Master or Journeyman Plumbers License through the Arkansas Department of Health before employment and/or be in a courtesy deferment status through the Arkansas Department of Health.
- Must possess Citation Authority Certification within one (1) year of employment and maintain certifications for the duration of employment in this position.
- Reviews code violation cases with the supervisor before issuance of a warrant or citation; issues approved warrants or citations to persons responsible for code violations.
- Maintains hard copy and computerized files of information on materials and procedures meeting the approval of State plumbing codes; notifies state plumbing inspectors of changes in City of Little Rock Plumbing Codes.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Knowledge of plumbing codes and ordinances.
- Knowledge of standard plumbing practices and materials.
- Knowledge of computer fundamentals and business software, including word processing software.
- Skill in the use of pressure testing devices.
- Skill in the operation of an automatic transmission vehicle.
- Skill in the operation of a computer.
- Ability to identify code violations in the field or on plans, and take corrective action.
- Ability to read and interpret building plans and plumbing specifications.
- Ability to interpret codes.
- Ability to direct and review the work activities of assigned personnel.
- Ability to maintain detailed files and records.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
