The Opportunity:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of our diverse fleet of heavy machinery, ensuring optimal performance and minimizing downtime for our field teams.

Our Fleet:
At JK Tobin, you'll work with a comprehensive and modern fleet that includes:
* CAT excavators, bulldozers, and loaders; Mack triaxle dump trucks; CAT/Terex off-road trucks, Hitachi/Volvo/Kobelco/Bobcat excavators
* Compact & Specialty Equipment: An assortment of small engine machines including plate tampers, generators, demo saws, 2-stroke equipment, etc.

Responsibilities:
* Perform preventative maintenance on all heavy equipment and small engine machines according to manufacturer specifications and company schedules.
* Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine problems on a wide range of equipment.
* Execute repairs, including rebuilding engines, transmissions, and hydraulic components.
* Conduct pre-delivery inspections and prepare new equipment for service.
* Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed.
* Order and manage parts inventory for repairs.
* Ensure all equipment operates safely and efficiently.
* Communicate with equipment operators and project managers to understand equipment performance issues.
* Stay up-to-date with new technologies and repair techniques for heavy equipment.
Qualifications:
* Proven experience as a heavy equipment technician, diesel mechanic, or similar role.
* Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine systems.
* Proficiency with diagnostic software and tools.
* Experience working with Caterpillar, Mack, Hitachi, Bobcat, and various small engine equipment is highly desirable.
* Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical manuals.
* Knowledge of DOT regulations and safety standards.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Valid driver's license; CDL A or B is a plus.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
* Must be able to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks.
