Position Summary:

As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will lead the design and development of complex mechanical systems and components for heavy equipment. You will collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, electrical, and systems engineering teams to deliver robust, cost-effective, and innovative solutions that meet customer and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the mechanical design of heavy equipment components and systems (e.g., chassis, hydraulics, powertrain, structural assemblies).
  • Create detailed 3D CAD models, drawings, and BOMs using tools such as SolidWorks, Creo, or CATIA.
  • Perform engineering calculations and simulations (FEA, tolerance stack-ups, etc.) to validate designs.
  • Drive design reviews, DFMEA, and DVP&R processes to ensure product reliability and safety.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and supply chain teams to ensure designs are optimized for cost, manufacturability, and serviceability.
  • Support prototype builds, testing, and field validation.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Stay current with industry trends, materials, and technologies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (Master's preferred).
  • 4+ years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in heavy equipment or off-highway machinery.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD and PLM systems.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, structural design, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with FEA tools (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus) and engineering analysis.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with ISO, SAE, or ASME standards for heavy equipment.
  • Knowledge of electrification or hybrid systems in heavy machinery.
  • Familiarity with GD&T and tolerance analysis.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $80000.00/yr.
