Position Overview

The Process Engineering Technician will collaborate with engineering, product development and production to ensure that manufacturing processes run efficiently. Identify additional opportunities to improve: safety, waste reduction, cost savings, process enhancements and other metrics.

  • Monitors and adjusts equipment, troubleshoots production challenges, and maintains quality standards
  • Continuously evaluates current manufacturing processes by applying knowledge of safety, product design, fabrication, assembly, packaging, tooling, and materials
  • Assess processes and tooling to produce parts in specification and at quoted rate
  • Directs tool design and tuning requirements to engineering department
  • Works closely with Lead Technicians, Supervisors, Product Development, and other staff to achieve production goals
  • Collects and analyzes data related to the production process to identify areas for improvement and track performance
  • Develops, plans, and executes continuous improvement projects guided by collecting and analyzing data
  • Leads change initiatives with other departments
  • Develops documents such as work instructions, standard operating procedures, and facilitates training of said documents
  • Reads, understands, and interprets blueprints, schematic and engineering documents
  • Stays up to date on industry trends and advancement in extrusion technology
  • Assists other team members as needed
  • Demonstrates a regular attendance pattern
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications Include

  • Bachelor's degree in Plastics Engineering Technology, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering/Technology and/or 5-10 years of hands-on PVC processing experience
  • Thorough understanding and proficiency in the extrusion of rigid PVC, flexible PVC, Foam PVC, HDPE, ABS, wood fiber and other plastic materials
  • Strong knowledge of plastic profile extrusion process
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing concepts and tools with a strong continuous improvement mindset
  • Experience with leading change management principals through effective teamwork
  • Strong computer skills including the ability to collect and analyze data
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to make decisions based on thorough data analysis
  • Good math and analytical skills
  • Creative thinking skills
  • Ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely
  • Highly motivated and able to work independently
  • Highly organized with strong documentation skills
