JOB SUMMARY:

Performs plumbing related duties requiring advanced levels of professional skill and technical knowledge. Oversees, tests and maintains Water-Based Fire Protection Systems, including Backflow Prevention Program for all housing, dining buildings and grounds. Performs as Plumbing Shop supervisor in his or her absence. Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

55% - Essential - PLUMBING MAINTENANCE, REPAIR, RENOVATION AND CONSTRUCTION: Performs maintenance, repair, renovation and construction of campus building domestic water, waste water, steam, fire protection, and other plumbing related specialty systems such as vacuum, compressed air and gas. Unstops blockages in all types of plumbing fixtures and building drains, roughs in plumbing fixtures, drain lines, copper pipe & tubing and PVC pipe and fittings according to plumbing code. Reads, understands and applies blueprints. Maintains and repairs high and low pressure steam traps, regulators and valves.

15% - Essential - Fire Protection System Maintenance: Inspects, tests and maintains water-based Fire Protection systems, cross connection and backflow devices in all University facilities.

15% - Essential - Training and Mentorship: Leads, guides, and/or trains other plumbers in applicable procedures and techniques. Completes the required training and testing to maintain applicable licensing.

10% - Essential - Work Area Maintenance: Prepares and cleans work areas, shop and vehicles. Identifies and gathers proper tools and materials and ensures proper housekeeping.

5% - Essential - Safety: Promotes a safe workplace and safe work practices. Complies with all applicable OSHA safety mandates and compliance with University LOTO policy. Complies with all EPA and DHEC rules and regulations. Promotes positive and productive relationships within and between shops.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education - MASC Master Certificate or Reciprocal Equivalent

Work Experience - 8+ years

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Education - Vocational or Technical Training 1 - Trade School Diploma

WORK SCHEDULE:

Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:00pm, occasional weekend and subject to callbacks. Standard Hours: 40

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

Band: 05 ($ 39,764.00 - $ 49,000.00)

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL

Essential Level 2 employee

Required to maintain/resume essential support functions, deliver direct care services, and/or provide recovery support before normal operations resume. Some positions in this category may be required to work remotely or be on-call.
