WSP is currently initiating a search for a **Senior-Level Structural Engineer** to join our Power & Energy team in **Houston, TX** . Your Impact
+ Design light foundations and structures for solar farms, battery energy storage facilities, and substation projects
+ Design heavy foundations and structures for large power generation projects: generators, turbines, transformers, pipe racks, gas compressors, metal building systems, and masonry walls/buildings.
+ Design structural steel systems for buildings, Platforms, equipment supports, etc.
+ Coordinate design requirements with drafter/designers
+ Occasionally travel to clients and projects and sites to interface with clients, verify existing conditions, and monitor construction progress (5%-10% travel)
+ Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a confident and professional manner
+ Proactively collaborate with other engineers, professionals, and infrastructure authorities on Federal, State, regional, local, and privately funded improvement and development projects, as well as proposal and business development opportunities.
+ Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSPs Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
+ Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
**Required Qualifications**
+ Bachelors Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
+ 7+ years of relevant post education experience in engineering discipline and prior structural or civil design experience.
+ PE license
+ Proficient with structural engineering principles, practices, process, and the application to project work-related issues.
+ Well-defined specific knowledge of relevant structural and civil construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
+ Experience with power generation, transmission, and distribution projects
+ Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
+ Demonstrated high-level of self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
+ Highly proficient with technical writing, office automation, discipline-specific design software (i.e., MicroStation, AutoCAD, RISA, STADD), technology, math principles, physics, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools.
+ Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, computations, statistical analysis and arriving at the most effective, economical, and logical solution.
+ Demonstrated effectiveness at coordinating and assertively directing subcontractors and others to consistently complete tasks safely and efficiently.
+ Knowledge of geotechnical engineering
+ Experience with pre-engineered metal building systems
+ Experience with seismic analysis and design
+ Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSPs health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
+ Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
+ Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
+ Open to longer duration field assignments with the duration of 1 to 18 months
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Masters Degree in Engineering.
