Family owned Civil Site Construction Company KSI is seeking a Construction Project Engineer (CPE).
Engineer is responsible for supporting the Project Managers and staying involved through project completion to ultimately deliver projects that are constructed safely, completed with high-quality, handed over on time, and closed below or at the estimated cost. The CPE must practice effective communication (verbal, written & non-verbal) with the willingness to engage all project stakeholders and apply critical thinking skills towards routine problem-solving. CPEs represent the company in the office and on the job site supporting the project team in the execution of the work. CPEs maintain control of all project documents, assist Project Managers and Superintendents to interpret the project requirements, support the project team by ensuring the job is constructed according to the project plans, and assist in budgets, scheduling, and planning.
The CPE is an important resource supporting the project from commencement to close out. Responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to:
Maintain control of all project documentation and ensure plans and documents are always up to date in Project HQ.
Prepare submittals for General Contractor approval.
Create, manage and track RFIs from the Project Manager to the General Contractor.
Create, manage and track RFCs/Change Orders on project.
Monitor costs and project progress, help identify missed change orders.
Participate in job buy-outs to increase profitability.
Assist in procurement of additional materials.
Collect material delivery tickets and compare to invoices.
Cost code invoices for Accounts Payable.
Manage subcontractor relationships and ensure subcontract agreements are issued, signed and that appropriate insurance requirements met.
Review plans and other technical documents.
Participate in project scheduling meetings.
Review and answer questions regarding the contractual scope and/or timing of the project.
Assist project team with conflict resolution between owners, contractors and subcontractors.
Assist project manager/owner with permits for the project if needed.
Create job book and apply for state or local SWPPP permits/NOIs for the project.
Create and maintain Blue Stake tickets.
Understand appropriate building codes/ regulations.
Attend and document weekly on-site project owners meetings/decisions.
Assist the project team with site safety documentation and coordination.
Assist the project team with closeout of the project.
Assist project accountant with monthly subcontractor billings and pay applications.
Assist project manager with assigned tasks.
Skills & Experience
At least a 2-year degree in a construction-related field is preferred or 4 years of related experience.
Ability to read and comprehend plans, specifications, addenda, bid materials, contracts and related construction documents, with an emphasis on grading, concrete, and underground utilities. Additional training in these skills will be provided.
Excellent oral and written communications skills.
Excellent basic math and algebra skills.
Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
Ability to effectively communicate with workers and trades.
Dependability
Knowledge of Excel, Outlook, Word, Foundations / Project HQ, Procore, Textura
Position Type : Full Time
Payment: Salary, based on experience and education $55,000-$70,000
Benefits: Health Insurance, paid time off after probationary period.
