Job Description :

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer/CAD Drafter to join our growing team. The ideal candidate is fluent in SolidWorks and has a strong background in machine design, specifically with industry experience using sheet metal, weldments and detailed manufacturing documentation. Prior experience designing laser processing workstations (e.g., tube cutting, welding, ablation systems) or other automation equipment is highly desirable.

You will be responsible for developing robust, precision-engineered assemblies and tooling used in medical device manufacturing, including custom part holding fixtures for components that often require micron level accuracy. This role requires mastery of SolidWorks 3D modeling and 2D drafting practices, with close attention to GD&T, weld callouts, and hardware integration such as PEM fasteners.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Design mechanical assemblies, laser processing workstations, and custom tooling assemblies in SolidWorks.
  • Develop production-ready 2D drawings with complete GD&T, weld symbols, and hardware specs using best drafting practices.
  • Engineer precision fixturing and tooling for small-scale medical components.
  • Create sheet metal and weldment structures optimized for manufacturability.
  • Integrate mechanical components into laser tube cutting, welding, and ablation platforms.
  • Work with SolidWorks PDM for part and revision control.
  • Update existing workstation and implementing continuous improvements.
  • (Bonus) Support electrical schematic design and updates in SolidWorks Electrical.

Required Qualifications :

  • 3-5+ years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer or 5-7+ years as a CAD Drafter.
  • Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks (including weldment and sheet metal tools).
  • Proven experience in machine design, preferably involving laser workstations.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T, mechanical tolerancing, weld callouts, and PEM hardware.
  • Skilled in producing detailed technical drawings suitable for high-precision fabrication.
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks PDM in a collaborative design environment.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Hands-on experience designing laser-based manufacturing systems.
  • Knowledge of laser safety standards and workstation integration.
  • Experience with SolidWorks Electrical for schematic design.
