At Lexington Maintenance, supervises, directs, and inspects the work of four (4) county Foremen/Section Shed Supr and their crew. Inspect work performed on highways, bridges, and right-of-way. Monitor paperwork such as request for service or complaint, foremens leave requests, and daily work reports. Complete employee performance evaluations on each. Supervises the county Strategic Plan program as it pertains to maintenance activities. Coordinate specialized equipment and county wide crews for maintenance projects inclusive of Strategic Plan goals, specialized projects, and preventive maintenance. Monitors monthly reports for accuracy and managing county wide stock piles. Report corrective measure to the RME, ARMEs, and foremen as needed to ensure future accurate reporting. Monitors the preventive maintenance program of equipment to ensure a routine maintenance schedule is followed and to monitor equipment use and prolong equipment life. Communicates in a professional manner with local officials, administrators, and the general public investigating field complaints. Works closely with shop foreman in the scheduling of repairs on equipment used in special maintenance projects, equipment pool, and general equipment county wide. Serves as maintenance supervisor in the absence of RME and both assistant engineers. Works as necessary during inclement or hazardous weather. May be required to work overnight and/or 12 hour shifts. Five (5) years of related work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence. Necessary Special Requirement: A valid motor vehicle operators license is required. Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.

The physical demands for the essential functions of this position involve bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, grasping and physically manipulating objects of varying size, shape, weight, and material. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. This position requires walking for extended periods, treading rough and uneven terrain, and working in close proximity to motoring traffic and natural environmental hazards. May be required to work outside of normal work schedule, especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental-related emergencies. Frequently exposed to outside environment in all weather conditions, noise, and oil or grease on a daily basis.
