Summary
Hinds County is hiring an Equipment Manager to work in our Central Repair Department in Raymond, MS. This position requires skilled mechanical work in the repair and maintenance of automotive and light and heavy equipment. Incumbents are responsible for the performance of skilled mechanical tasks in the major repair of vehicles and light and heavy construction equipment.
Incumbent is under the general supervision of the Central Repair Director.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Possess and maintain a valid Mississippi driver's license.
May be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment needed to make repairs.
Inspect and repair vehicles, including but not limited to big trucks, tractors, dozers, backhoes, pavers, rollers, compressors, etc.
Inspect and make repairs to engines, front ends, emission systems, electrical systems, brakes, fuel systems, hydraulic systems etc.
Maintain shop equipment and order parts.
Order tools as needed with approval.
Provide assistance to equipment mechanics when needed.
Help keep shop clean.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
The employee must be able to:
Lift a minimum of 20 pounds frequently (over 33% of the time)
Operate a motor vehicle occasionally (less than 33% of the time) - maintain a valid Mississippi driver's license.
Regularly stand for extended periods of time
Constantly operate a computer
Minimum Qualifications
A high school diploma or GED; OR
Any combination of related education and experience equivalent to eight to ten (8-10) years related experience.
