Davis & Floyd is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join our team. We are a multi-disciplined firm that has been providing engineering services to our clients since 1954. This candidate will work on the design of structural engineering projects including bridge design (main focus area), building design, and water treatment plant tank design. The candidate will supervise and lead collaboration efforts with other disciplines within the firm. The ideal candidate will provide leadership, guidance and instruction to less experienced staff members.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following tasks:
Coordination, review, and completion of structural design calculations, plans, specifications, cost estimates, reports and contracts

Bridge construction cost estimating
Bridge load rating reviews & QC
SCDOT Seismic design (SDC A-D)
Bridge Design Build pursuit support and site visits as needed
Bridge Design Bid Build pursuit support and site visits as needed
Culvert design & detailing
Shop drawing review
Ability to support building designs as needed
Perform linear and nonlinear structural analyses, structural inspections, load rating, seismic evaluation, and assessment reports
Review for quality assurance and quality control and ensure compliance with quality standards
Coordination and communication with architects, engineers, sub-consultants, and contractors
Participate in and facilitate meetings with stakeholders and clients
Instruct, train, and mentor group members
Respond to RFPs and lead interviews
Prepare fee proposals for projects
Prepare forecast of workload and monitor backlog
May be responsible for workgroup financials and quality goals
Market to existing or potential clients
May serve as a project engineer, project manager, or client manager and provide overall project oversight
May have supervisory responsibilities for group members and support staff including hiring, promoting, terminations, performance reviews, and training
Public involvement may include reports, graphics, presentations, and other visual material
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Masters preferred)
- Minimum 10 years of experience in the design of steel, reinforced concrete, and prestressed concrete bridges
- Experience in major bridge design (spans over 120', total length over 350', curved structures) is preferred
- Must be a Professional Engineer (PE) in South Carolina or able to obtain licensure within one year
- Acceptable results on the Structural Engineering (SE) exam is preferred
- Experience with SCDOT procedures is preferred
- Successful completion of NHI Bridge Inspector Course is preferred
- Experience in MicroStation, LEAP Bridge, Microsoft Excel, MathCAD, and SAP2000/CSiBridge
- Proficient in computer-assisted engineering
- Ability to manage and clearly communicate with staff and clients
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
