ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:These duties reflect a learning-focused path and may expand as skills progress:
Assist in the layout and tack welding of parts using basic prints and verbal instructions under supervision.
Perform basic MIG (GMAW) and FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc) welding in flat and horizontal positions on tables or fixtures.
Work with jigs and fixtures to ensure part orientation and minimize weld distortion.
Learn to identify weld symbols and interpret welding instructions from blueprints.
Support prep activities such as grinding, cleaning weld areas, deburring parts, and removing spatter or slag.
Participate in supervised welds on simple sub-weldments and low-complexity parts with prescribed weld sizes.
Observe and assist in basic inspection processes and learn to perform self-checks for weld quality.
Keep a clean and organized workstation and follow all safety procedures.
Assist in documentation, including labor tracking and part movement reporting.
Participate in safety, quality, and lean manufacturing practices as part of the broader production team.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED
Currently enrolled in a welding-focused technical or college program
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Introductory knowledge of welding techniques (e.g., GMAW, FCAW)
Ability to read basic shop drawings or willingness to learn
Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to receive feedback
