Pay Range: $90,000-$120,000/year, based on experience

What You'll Do

As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you'll drive the full design lifecycle for precision machined parts and high-temperature brazed assemblies used in aerospace and defense systems. From concept development to manufacturability optimization, you'll lead the charge in delivering mission-ready components that exceed performance expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead design efforts using CAD tools for machined components and brazed assemblies
  • Develop robust, lightweight, and thermally efficient designs aligned with aerospace standards
  • Engineer joint designs for high-temperature brazing, considering geometry and material compatibility
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality, and materials engineering
  • Conduct FEA and tolerance stack-up analysis to validate performance under thermal, structural, and vibrational loads
  • Generate complete technical documentation, including drawings, BOMs, and specifications
  • Mentor junior engineers and support technical development across the team
  • Represent the design team during customer and supplier technical discussions
  • Contribute to root cause investigations and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with AS9100, ITAR, and other industry regulations

What You Bring to the Table

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  • 7+ years of mechanical design experience in aerospace and/or defense
  • Expertise in precision machining, tight tolerances, and brazed joint design
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and CNC processes (milling, turning, grinding)
  • Skilled in 3D CAD modeling and FEA analysis tools
  • Familiarity with AS9100, ITAR, and customer-specific aerospace requirements
  • Experience with vacuum or dip brazing techniques
  • Exposure to thermal and stress analysis for high-temperature applications
  • Background working with major defense contractors (Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, etc.)
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and project leadership skills
