Job Summary: Each Construction Helper will help and assist employer's skilled iron workers by performing basic, supportive, and less skilled tasks, including helping to load, unload, deliver, pick up, and clean hand tools and equipment used for erecting structural steel for buildings, bridges and other structures.
These tools and equipment include shear studs, bolts, welders and welding leads, welding wire/rod, grinders, torches, clamps, slings, hammers, fasteners, transport chains, load binders, anchor bolts, drill press, gusset plates, slaters, straps, extension cords, fire retardant blankets, fire extinguisher, first aid box, and generators.
Tasks will also include assisting in cleaning, repairing, lubricating, and moving equipment/tools by repairing broken chains; replacing blades; cleaning saws, straps, welders, grinders, welding lead, and other small tools; greasing forklifts, manlifts, scissor lifts; checking trailer lights and brakes; and fueling and checking oil on small machinery such as pressure washers, generators, and forklifts.
Travel Details. One to three days of day trip each week (20-50% of working days annually) to employer's structural steel erection project sites within Oregon to help with the delivery, pickup, loading, and unloading of tools and equipment for iron workers and steel erectors The helper will ride to and from job sites with more senior employees and will return home at the end of each workday.
Job Requirements: Three (3) months of construction and/or maintenance helper-related experience and/or training. Physical ability to lift up to 75 lbs. Must be available and willing to work 6 or 7 days a week to meet project deadlines. All employees are subject to random drug screening.

Salary: $18.02 to $20.72 per Hour

Additional Benefit Information: Work beyond the standard 40-hour workweek will be paid at 1.5 time the regular hourly rate. Employer will also meet or exceed the prevailing wage set by the U.S. Department of Labor for job-related travel outside Lane County to a higher-wage primary metropolitan statistical area (PMSA)
