JOB SUMMARY:
The Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for all site-wide maintenance operations, focusing on the manufacturing aspects of production lines. This includes the setup, maintenance, and repair of all manufacturing machinery, tools, and equipment. The Maintenance Supervisor will ensure strict adherence to production standards and will lead the staffing, training, and supervision of the maintenance team to achieve optimal performance. Additionally, this individual will manage or assist with budgeted site maintenance projects as well as emergency repairs. In close collaboration with the Maintenance Manager, this individual will provide critical support by implementing maintenance strategies, coordinating day-to-day activities, and ensuring that all operational goals are met efficiently and effectively.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Oversees the day-to-day general plant maintenance, managing technicians and janitorial staff to ensure effective maintenance operations.
• Evaluates systems or facilities to determine maintenance or repairs needed and identifies improvement opportunities.
• Inspects the facility periodically to identify problems and necessary maintenance, participating in regular inspections and audits to ensure standards are met.
• Ensures maintenance and repair work is completed correctly and in a timely manner, and implements best practices and preventive maintenance programs.
• Assists with departmental budget estimates by monitoring and controlling the maintenance budget, providing input on cost estimates and expenditures for repair projects.
• Evaluates and assists in the procurement of building maintenance materials, while also supporting vendor coordination and management.
• Coordinates projects with external contractors, including Fire Suppression, HVAC, Material Handling, and Electrical contractors. Assists in managing contracts for maintenance services, ensuring compliance with company standards.
• Maintains all material handling equipment, including racking, conveyor systems (if applicable), lighting, waste management equipment, and informational signage.
• Enforces company safety policies to prevent employee accidents and injuries and ensures compliance with safety standards.
• Conducts and ensures completion of monthly inspections, including fire suppression systems, emergency lighting, site waste management, building equipment, and PPE supplies.
• Maintains production and warehouse areas, ensuring all inside and outside areas are free from debris and other hazards, maintaining a safe and clean working environment.
• Coordinates staffing needs with Operations and Maintenance management to address staffing requirements.
• Handles emergency situations by responding to after-hours calls for repair and maintenance.
• Partners with the Maintenance Manager to develop and deliver training programs to improve technical skills and cross-training of maintenance staff.
• Identifies improvement opportunities and recommends and implements improvements to maintenance processes and procedures.
• Collaborates on equipment needs by supporting new product development and discussing equipment needs and modifications with various company departments.
• Contributes to cost-saving initiatives by identifying and suggesting cost-saving measures in maintenance operations.
• Participates in capital project planning by assisting in the planning and coordination of capital projects, including working with external contractors and ensuring project milestones are met.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School Diploma or equivalent is required; associate’s degree in Facilities Management, or a related field is preferred
• Minimum of 3+ years in maintenance or facilities management, with progressive responsibility, including experience in a supervisory role
• Certifications in facilities management, maintenance, or safety are a plus
• Proven experience in managing maintenance teams and coordinating with external contractors
• PC literate with MS Office computer skills required
• Must possess industrial electrical knowledge, including reading electrical diagrams, troubleshooting, identifying and resolving electrical problems
• Excellent mechanical aptitude, spatial and reasoning skills
• Familiarity with both AC and DC electrical operations, including PLCs, inverter drives, controllers, etc., and their functions
• Excellent math skills
• Self-motivated with strong problem-solving abilities
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with team members, management, and external contractors
• Strong understanding of maintenance procedures for mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and fire/life safety systems
• Proficiency in using maintenance management software and tools
• Knowledge of safety standards and regulations related to maintenance and facilities management
• Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team, including providing training and performance feedback
• Experience in managing and coordinating maintenance projects, with the ability to plan and oversee maintenance schedules to ensure timely completion of tasks
