Responsibilities

Responsible for planning, administering, reviewing, and evaluating all activities related to the daily operational and facility management of Seminole Dining locations within the Office of Business Services (OBS). Serves as the primary liaison between FSU Facilities, FSU PD&C, service contractors, and external vendors to ensure operational excellence and compliance in facilities and management.

  • Responsible for the daily operations and facility management of all university food service venues and Business Services-managed locations. Conducts regular facility front and back of house assessments to ensure operational excellence and compliance with contractual obligations, applicable codes, federal and state regulations, university policies, and industry standards. Establishes and maintains high standards for customer service, cleanliness, appearance, and functionality of all facilities, equipment, and furnishings. Performs routine inspections to verify service quality, safety, and operational readiness, and proactively addresses any deficiencies. Conducts comprehensive reviews, data analysis, and on-site observations of service provider performance, monitoring key areas such as customer service, cleanliness, and food safety. Utilizes data to drive continuous improvement efforts and ensure the delivery of responsive, high-quality services and facilities. Meets regularly with providers to set and assess goals, resolves performance issues, and ensures alignment with the university's vision and expectations.
  • Manages the planning, budgeting, and execution of food service-related construction, renovations, refreshes, and equipment upgrades. Serves as a liaison with FSU Facilities, architects, contractors, food service providers, and other university departments. Represents OBS throughout project phases, reviewing plans, drawings, and specifications. Attends project meetings, coordinating schedules, and providing recommendations to enhance functionality and service delivery. Prepares and manages project budgets, ensuring accurate cost estimates, fiscal accountability, and timely execution. Ensures all projects comply with FSU standards for quality, performance, value, code requirements and sustainability, and maintains thorough documentation and reporting throughout the project's lifecycle. Coordinates code reviews with Department of Health for construction and renovation projects. Maintains comprehensive project documentation and reporting, presents recommendations for approval, and provides regular progress updates to OBS leadership.
  • Manages the full life cycle of food service and facility equipment, including allocation, preventative maintenance, repairs, and replacement. Manages the implementation and ongoing use of a maintenance management platform to schedule, track, and verify maintenance activities. Coordinates the scheduling and assignments of external vendors for preventative services including but not limited to movable equipment maintenance, hood system cleaning, and grease trap cleaning and pumping. Conducts inspections to ensure compliance with safety codes, university policies, and performance standards. Coordinates training on equipment usage and ensures contractors meet expectations for upkeep and functionality. Maintains a comprehensive inventory of furnishings and equipment, along with detailed records of inspections, maintenance, and replacements. Advises OBS leadership on current code requirements, technological advancements in equipment and maintenance, and short- and long-term operations and maintenance needs. Monitors related budgets, including the Equipment Maintenance & Repair Fund.
  • Ensures optimal conditions across OBS operated spaces by upholding the highest standards for cleanliness, safety, and visual appeal. Manages both in-house and contracted maintenance services, ensuring timely, high-quality execution of all tasks. Initiates, tracks, and escalates work orders as needed to ensure prompt resolution. Coordinates pest control scheduling and sanitation inspections, ensuring full compliance with university policies, health regulations, and industry standards. Develops and maintains a master schedule for deep cleaning, routine maintenance, and long-term facility care. Establishes operational guidelines and coordinates training with food service providers to promote consistent practices and service excellence across all business units.
  • Serves as a contact for facility safety and emergency operations across OBS locations. Coordinates the food service emergency management plan and collaborates with campus partners to establish, implement, and maintain safety protocols and emergency procedures in accordance with the university's Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP). Supports emergency preparedness planning and communication, ensuring all stakeholders understand safety expectations. Assists in coordinating emergency responses and follows up on safety-related incidents to improve future readiness. Conducts post-storm assessments and provides operational support to restore normal operations as quickly and safely as possible.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and four years experience related to food service operations or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to eight years in the same.
  • A valid State of Florida or Georgia Driver's License or the ability to obtain prior to hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in coordinating building maintenance, repairs, and renovation or construction projects related to food service facilities.
  • Understanding of design, construction documents, and basic project management principles.
  • Experience working with vendors, contractors, architects and related stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment, health and safety codes, and compliance.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as requested.
