Position Title: Industrial Painter

Location: Highland, IL

Position Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Industrial Painter to perform paint work for custom manufactured trailers and displays. This intermediate position requires expertise in automotive painting techniques, surface preparation and finish ensuring a high-quality product. Our ideal candidate will have a solid background in automotive or industrial painting, strong attention to detail, willing to learn and able to follow instructions to ensure high quality workmanship in all tasks.

This work environment is dynamic and versatile in nature, where employees are expected to wear multiple hats and handle a variety of tasks. This role requires a high level of adaptability, as daily tasks and priorities may shift based on the evolving needs of the day. The ability to pivot and manage changing responsibilities is essential to success in this position. Employees continuously learn and gain hands-on experience in various areas, allowing them to develop a broad skill set.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform surface preparation, including sanding, masking, washing, and bodywork repair.
  • Perform all body work, as needed.
  • Operate spray guns and other painting equipment with precision and efficiency.
  • Mix and spray Axalta paint products.
  • Remove and install vinyl graphics.
  • Follow verbal instruction and completes assigned tasks given by Team Leads and/or other departmental supervision.
  • Communicate suggestions, solutions, and other ideas on workplace efficiencies to Team Lead, Supervisors, Engineers, and Peers, as necessary.
  • Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 - 6 years' experience in an automotive or commercial paint environment; or related education, certification(s), or similar experience.
  • Extensive knowledge in repairing and automotive body work.
  • Mechanical aptitude. Must be able to read a tape measure.
  • Use of air and electric hand tools.
  • Experience in a manufacturing setting and commercial environment.
  • Ability to solve moderate issues and learn the job quickly.
  • Must demonstrate a consistent work history, along with strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Completion of a certification program or 2 years vocational high school program.
  • 3+ years' experience in Automotive Paint.
  • Experience with Axalta paint products spraying and mixing paints.
  • Spray paint using Pressure Pots/Gravity Guns.
  • Experience in vinyl graphic installation.
  • MIG/TIG welding experience.
  • Experience spraying bedliner products - Scorpion/Linex type materials.

Physical Requirements:

  • Physical ability to stand up to 8+ hours per day.
  • Physically able to climb in and out of trailers, scaffolding and ladders.
  • Must have the ability to hear and respond to auditory signals, distinguish tones and pitches in equipment, and use hearing protection during specific tasks.
  • Ability to lift & carry up to 75 lbs.
  • Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
  • Some travel may be required for on-site assistance/repair.
