Senior Mechanical Engineer and CAPEX Project Manager

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Senior Mechanical Engineer CAPEX Project Manager to lead and execute capital projects within our manufacturing facilities. This individual will be responsible for the end-to-end management of CAPEX initiatives including scope development, budgeting, contractor oversight, and project delivery. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in mechanical engineering, extensive experience in manufacturing environments, and a proven ability to manage cross-functional teams and subcontractors to deliver projects on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, lead, and execute capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects for equipment upgrades, expansions, and infrastructure improvements across one or more manufacturing sites.

  • Develop detailed project scopes, budgets, timelines, and resource plans , ensuring alignment with business goals and compliance with company standards.

  • Select, hire, and manage external contractors and engineering service providers ; oversee performance, negotiate contracts, and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Operations, Maintenance, EHS, Procurement, and Finance to ensure successful project integration.

  • Conduct site assessments, feasibility studies, and risk evaluations to support project proposals and justifications.

  • Prepare and present project documentation including technical reports, capital requests, and project status updates to senior leadership.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations , standards, and corporate policies throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to reduce cost, improve efficiency, and enhance reliability in capital project execution.

Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (Masters preferred).

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in mechanical engineering and capital project management within manufacturing or industrial settings.

  • Proven experience in managing capital budgets , timelines, and project teams, including third-party contractors and vendors.

  • Strong working knowledge of construction practices, mechanical systems, utilities, and industrial equipment .

  • Experience with project management tools and methodologies (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, Gantt charts).

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Strong understanding of OSHA and other safety regulations relevant to industrial project work.

  • PMP certification or Six Sigma training is a plus.

Preferred Attributes
  • Hands-on experience with installation and commissioning of manufacturing equipment.

  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple complex projects simultaneously.

  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or TPM principles.

  • Experience with energy efficiency or sustainability-focused projects is a plus
