We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Master Transmission Builder to join our team. The ideal candidate has advanced knowledge of automatic transmission systems, strong mechanical aptitude, and a proven track record of building, remanufacturing, and troubleshooting transmissions. This role is critical in ensuring quality, reliability, and performance in all units built.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Disassemble, inspect, and diagnose automatic transmissions for wear, failure, and remanufacturing feasibility.
  • Remanufacture transmissions to OEM or enhanced specifications using proper techniques, tools, and calibrated equipment.
  • Measure tolerances, endplay, and clearances using micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators to ensure precise fit and function.
  • Install bushings, bearings, seals, gaskets, and valve body components accurately.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safety-compliant work area.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and testing teams on root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
  • Interpret and apply technical data.
  • Perform final quality checks and functional testing prior to shipping or vehicle installation.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred.
  • Minimum 7–10 years experience building and/or remanufacturing automotive transmissions.
  • Extensive knowledge of common OEM platforms (e.g., Ford, GM, Chrysler, Honda, Toyota, Nissan).
  • Proficient in using specialized tools and measurement devices.
  • Familiarity with transmission dyno testing or end-of-line testing procedures is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently in a high-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ASE Certification in Automatic Transmissions/Transaxles (A2) or similar.
  • Experience in remanufacturing environments with lean manufacturing or 5S knowledge.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to think critically.
  • Excellent communication and documentation habits.
