Otter Products is hiring for a Sr. Business Development Manager - Merchandising to join our team in Fort Collins, CO on a hybrid schedule or Remote in the US.
The Sr. Business Development Manager - Merchandising identifies, pursues, and cultivates opportunities that deliver long-term value and fuel the company's growth. This role utilizes sales techniques and marketing strategies effectively to identify new markets, sales channels, and new business opportunities while creating strategic opportunities to grow existing customers, markets, and relationships. Additionally, the Sr. Business Development Manager - Merchandising partners with internal and external resources to drive profitable growth of accounts and is responsible for driving the reduction of excess inventory through liquidation or promotional opportunities.
To succeed in this role, you must have effective public speaking and presentation delivery skills, the ability to establish, grow, and maintain strong relationships, and solid negotiation, networking, sales prospecting and closing skills.

- Responsible for generating and developing new business; Drive growth opportunities according to Strategic Objectives; Identifies new revenue opportunities consistent with company goals and targets
- Prepare strategies and proposals that include the positioning strategy/plan, business case rationale, risks, and customer value proposition ensuring all strategies are effectively communicated, documented and tracked; Organize and guide cross-functional teams in developing the strategies and business cases to support positioning of new business opportunities
- Identify new prospects; Research prospective accounts in targeted markets, pursue leads and follow through to a successful agreement before account management is passed to the Sales organization.
- Understand the target markets, including industry, company, project, company contacts and which market strategies will be used to attract customers.
- Partner with Sales Leadership, Business Insights, Product Development, and Product Merchandising to identify new revenue streams, projects, and products to drive growth and to maintain competitive insights.
- Recommend innovation or derivative solutions aligned with Strategic Objectives for key customer opportunities to accelerate revenue.
- Responsible for negotiating initial business terms with prospective customers including but limited to; pricing, return rights, volume incentives, freight terms, and contract duration.
- Support implementation of Go to Market plans needed to deliver annual revenue and profitability targets.
- Own Excess Inventory & Liquidation Strategy
- Partner with the Director, Merchandising to help facilitate a regular deal review to support sales strategies of proactive excess inventory management and evaluation of liquidation opportunities.
- Support sell-through strategy development for North America key accounts to help drive overall sales success.
- C-Level Engagement
- Role may interface with senior executives and leadership in a variety of organizations.
- Support and maintain a positive safety culture by following all safety policies and procedures and actively contributing to a safe working environment.
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelors degree required. MBA preferred. Experience in lieu of degree may be accepted
- Minimum of five years of sales/business development experience is required.
- Ability to travel up to 75% required.
- Driver's license required OR employee and company agree on a regular alternative form of transportation (i.e., public transportation, ride sharing, etc.)
