GFT is seeking a Construction Services Project Manager to join our Construction Team in Raleigh, NC !

What you’ll be challenged to do:
Performs advanced and complex transportation engineering work in the functional area of Construction Services for GFT on assigned projects to ensure contracted construction obligations are achieved. Ensures in compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

Project and Client Management

  • Serve as the lead engineer on complex construction projects across various transportation modes.

  • Act as the primary client liaison, managing expectations and ensuring client satisfaction.

  • Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure project alignment.

Construction Services Oversight

  • Oversee Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) and Construction Management & Testing (CMT) activities.

  • Ensure adherence to construction plans, specifications, safety protocols, and quality standards.

  • Evaluate field conditions, troubleshoot deficiencies, and provide corrective actions.

Financial & Operational Oversight

  • Develop and manage project budgets and schedules to ensure timely and profitable delivery.

  • Monitor financial performance and implement cost-control measures.

  • Assist in the preparation of project scopes, proposals, and contract documents.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead and mentor junior engineers, inspectors, and support staff.

  • Provide technical guidance and support training initiatives.

  • Foster a positive, safety-oriented, and high-performance culture.

Business Development & Strategic Growth

  • Support and participate in business development activities and client pursuit strategies.

  • Contribute to strategic planning and execution of growth initiatives within Construction Services.

  • Represent TranSystems at industry conferences and client meetings.

Compliance & Regulatory Coordination

  • Ensure project compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and standards.

  • Review and manage RFIs, submittals, and change orders.

  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies and clients to address and resolve project issues.

Resource & Equipment Management

    • Manage inventory, maintenance, and deployment of Construction Services equipment.

    • Ensure teams are properly equipped for efficient and compliant field operations.

Education | Experience:

What you will bring to our firm:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).

  • 8+ years of progressively responsible experience in transportation construction management or engineering.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Experience working with state DOTs or federal transportation projects (preferred).

  • Proficiency in project management software and tools (e.g., Primavera P6, ProjectWise, Bluebeam).

  • Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and safety regulations.

What we prefer you bring:

  • Valid US driver’s license. This position requires driving to projects and related meetings.
  • Ability to obtain railroad certification, as needed.

Compensation:

  • The Salary range for this position is $136,000-$206,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
