A Senior Environmental Engineer - NJ PE License Position Summary: The Senior Environmental Engineer will be responsible for formulating and administering company policies, effective planning, directing, and coordinating all Engineering Department activities, as well as actively managing several key projects. Reports To: Chief Operating Officer Essential Functions: Technical Engineering Responsibilities: Experience with providing engineering services involving civil, environmental, and industrial wastewater. Experience completing design analysis, preparing engineering cost estimates, preparing civil or remedial design packages that include drawings and construction specifications, and construction oversight. Experience with Pennsylvania and/or New Jersey permitting of industrial wastewater discharge, soil erosion and sediment control, and general site planning. Familiarity and working expertise with major federal environmental and safety regulations (e.g., RCRA, CERCLA, CWA, OSHA, TSCA) required. Direct, lead, and implement concurrent environmental services projects/tasks. Provide technical leadership to engineers, drafters, and administrative support to ensure the accurate and timely completion of projects, including the review and approval of documentation. Develop cost estimates for feasibility studies and remedial designs for Superfund, brownfield, and other contaminated sites. Manage documents, prepare planning documents, and prepare reports for environmental characterization and remediation projects. Perform engineering design for environmental projects, including the preparation of drawings, specifications, calculations, and developing operation, maintenance, and monitoring plans. Establish and monitor schedules and budgets as they are related to the assigned projects. Proven client and project management experience complemented with strong technical skills. Management Responsibilities: Lead, support, and direct project engineers and assistants in planning, scheduling, and implementation of all projects. Direct the training and mentoring of subordinates in the Engineering Division on management philosophies, techniques, leadership, and routine policies and procedures. In coordination with the director of marketing, develop and implement local marketing and growth strategies. Represent the firm at client meetings, industry events, and other business functions. Ensure compliance with company expectations for staff utilization. Responsible for empowering project teams to successfully deliver projects leading to satisfied clients and strong financial performance. Maintain a defined level of chargeability and support other offices. Maintain client communication in coordination with other offices and ensure satisfactory client experience, project production, and Quality Assurance/Quality Control procedures. Education: Bachelor's Degree in Environmental, Civil, or Chemical Engineering. Master's Degree Preferred. 15+ years' experience in the environmental engineering field. 6+ years of progressive management experience. Required Skills: A current New Jersey Professional Engineer (PE) license required. Experience in landfill design and construction, wastewater treatment, and large-scale groundwater remediation. Preparing proposals and budget estimates. Substantial technical and project management experience. Strong communication skills (external and internal), including business development, proposal writing, stakeholder engagement, and leading client presentations. Current OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER and Refresher Training. Ability to travel as necessary to complete duties. Preferred Skills: Strong skills in project and client relationship management and collaborative problem solving. Software experience: MS Excel, MS Projects, MS PowerPoint; GIS/MicroStation/AutoCAD experience is a plus. Strong supervisory and leadership skills, professional demeanor, and communication abilities. Strong problem-solving and flexibility skills. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
