Position Summary
This position will supervise the Institution's Building and Grounds Maintenance program, providing direct supervision to specified maintenance staff and providing direction to all maintenance staff in the general maintenance and repair of buildings, equipment and institution grounds.
This position will participate in maintenance project planning, evaluation and management, as well as direct the preventative maintenance, pest control and grounds programs.
This position will determine monthly and emergency supply and equipment needs for maintenance department and assist with monitoring budget expenditures.
This position conducts health and safety checks/inspections, and will assist Person in Our Care (PIOC) workers and security staff to effectively carry out program functions.
This position will sometimes work within a wide range of temperatures (extreme hot and cold), in dusty, dirty, or confined areas or areas that may be quite noisy. This position will also work within close physical proximity to PIOC and other staff members. This position may work in other areas of the institution during lock-down situations.
Salary Information
This position is in pay schedule and range 81-04 with a starting pay of $31.00/hour - $38.05/hour. Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. A probationary period is required.

Job Details
This position is not eligible for remote work and will work on site.
Anticipated schedule will be Monday - Friday 7:45 AM - 4:30 PM.
In the event of an urgent situation, the employee may be required to work additional hours on their shift, holiday, or weekend.
This position is FLSA Exempt.
This position is not anticipated to travel on a regular basis, but most DOC positions occasionally travel for training, meetings, conferences, or similar events.

Qualifications
Minimally qualified applicants will have:
- Experience maintaining and repairing buildings, equipment, systems, and grounds in an institution or commercial setting.
- Experience facilitating/managing various operational programs related to buildings and grounds (example: maintenance, services, repairs, such as a preventative maintenance program and contractor provided services).
- Experience, education, or training using various maintenance software (such as: E-Builder) and software from the Microsoft Office Suite (such as: Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, etc.)
- Experience leading, training, mentoring, or directing the work of other staff members
In addition to the above, well qualified applicants will have:
- Experience supervising staff (e.g. hiring, training, assigning and directing work, performance evaluations, discipline, dismissal, settling grievances, etc.)
- Experience establishing/maintaining safety training programs and implementing safety policy (e.g. fire codes, ADA accessibility, building codes, material handling safety, lockout/tag out procedures, confined spaces, etc.)
- Experience planning, budgeting, and purchasing for maintenance projects.
