This role is part of the New Shepard program. New Shepard is a reusable suborbital rocket system designed to take astronauts and research payloads past the Karman line the internationally recognized boundary of space. As a Project Engineer within the New Shepard Crew Capsule team, you will draw upon an engineering foundation and project leadership to deliver complex projects on time and within budget. In this role you will work directly with the engineering, test and production teams applying your project management, project controls expertise, and leadership skills to drive multiple projects and integration between teams. You will be responsible for project development schedules, work breakdown, costs, and schedule management and integration. The projects you will be leading will have a direct impact on the worlds first spaceship designed to safely fly humans to space weekly. The position presents incredible challenges but promises immense rewards; significantly impacting humanity.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Lead and manage the full lifecycle of hardware-based engineering projects: from requirements through design, build, integration, test, and final delivery
- Maintain the Crew Capsule Integrated Master Schedule in Primavera (P6) with all stakeholders
- Own technical project planning, scheduling, resource allocation, and budget management
- Act as primary technical focal point for assigned projectsdriving detail-oriented coordination across hardware engineering teams
- Define, monitor, and control technical project scope, goals, and deliverables; proactively manage risk and technical changes
- Resource load, analyze, and optimize project schedule to meet required dates.
- Displays strong ownership and accountability for the outcomes of projects.
- Required to take ownership of dependencies, including engineering deadlines; supply chain, procurement, and internal manufacturing; as necessary to support end item delivery schedule
- Effectively communicate development status, risks, and challenges to management. And be able to adapt to evolving engineering requirements in a fast-paced, hardware-driven environment
- Champion a detail-driven, safety-focused, and data-oriented culture throughout every physical and technical activity
Minimum Qualifications:
- B.S. degree or higher in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, Systems, or other classical engineering discipline
- 4+ years of project management experience.
- Experience with integrated master schedules using Primavera (P6) or Microsoft Project
- Demonstrated history of technical project management applied to multi-disciplinary engineered systems (schedules, critical path, change management)
- Intense curiosity for understanding the details of our business and how to optimize it
- Self-starter, detail oriented, organized, and consistently follows-through
Preferred Qualifications:
- M.S. or higher in Engineering discipline; PMP certification
- Experience with collaboration tools such as Confluence and JIRA
- Experience across multiple portions of the product life cycle (design, analysis, manufacturing, integration, and test)
Compensation Range for:
WA applicants is $117,498.00-$164,497.20Other site ranges may differ
