Mechanical Technician**

**Job Description**

As a Mechanical Technician, you will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing various components including brake systems, engines, electrical components, steering systems, transmissions, drive trains, and tires for tractors, trailers, and refrigeration equipment. You will perform preventative maintenance services and ensure the proper functioning of all parts. The role requires establishing and maintaining positive working relationships, receiving and executing instructions, and maintaining regular and predictable attendance.

**Responsibilities**

+ Inspect, diagnose, and repair brake systems, engines, electrical components, steering systems, transmissions, drive trains, and tires.

+ Perform preventative maintenance services such as changing oil, checking fluids, inspecting batteries, testing lights, and lubricating equipment.

+ Establish and maintain positive working relationships.

+ Receive and carry out instructions.

+ Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

+ Perform other duties as assigned.

**Essential Skills**

+ Proficiency in electrical, mechanical, and troubleshooting skills.

+ Experience in repair and service using hand tools, pneumatics, and hydraulics.

+ Preventive maintenance knowledge.

+ Experience as a mechanic or diesel mechanic.

**Additional Skills & Qualifications**

+ Associate degree or one to two years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

+ Welding experience, diesel truck experience, and refer trailer experience are ideal.

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

+ Extensive knowledge of all aspects of vehicle repair.

+ Excellent mechanical repair skills.

+ Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

+ Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues.

+ Ability to read service and repair manuals.

+ Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

+ Must have own tools and rolling toolbox.

+ ASE certified and DOT inspection certified as required.

+ EPA Certification for Federal Clean Air Act 609 and 608 as required.

+ Valid drivers license required, CDL Class A preferred.

**Work Environment**

The work environment involves exposure to outside weather conditions, vibration, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme temperatures, and excessive noise levels. Employees must work safely in a noisy area with various odors present. The role requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and occasionally up to 100 lbs. Visual acuity is necessary for inspecting repair work, and physical flexibility is needed for bending, stretching, kneeling, and squatting to perform repairs and inspections.

**Job Type & Location**

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mankato, Minnesota.

**Pay and Benefits**

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $35.00/hr.
