Job Summary

Plans and directs the work of the Assembly Technicians in order to reduce assembly equipment downtime, improve processes, and increase productivity.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Supervises, assigns work, and prepares work schedules for all of the assembly department technicians

  2. Creates, submits, and maintains plant side budget for assembly departments, including Capital Budget requests for assembly department improvements

  3. Evaluates all requisitions from the assembly department technicians for intent, cost, and timing

  4. Assists Assembly and Manufacturing Engineering in maintaining plant KPI's for scrap, efficiency, and demonstrated capacity in assembly

  5. Monitors and evaluates equipment downtime with assigned technician, determines and implements countermeasures, and verifies their effectiveness

  6. Works with Equipment Engineering to obtain the acceptance of countermeasure as part of the design standard, and implements the new standards into other lines experiencing the same type of downtime

  7. Creates and maintains the Countermeasure Plan for Assembly Equipment downtime, and presents to plant and engineering management on a monthly basis

  8. Communicates equipment downtime related to part design to the product launch team

  9. Evaluates launch plans and provides technical feedback to Manufacturing Engineering

  10. Works with the Manufacturing Engineers to help to complete the launch assembly line preparation in accordance with the timeline and information provided in the Manufacturing Engineers' micro-schedule

  11. Evaluates Technician Work Order forms for requests of equipment changes and improvements, assigns to technicians, monitors progress, and reports status through completion

  12. Assists Manufacturing Engineering and Engineering Technicians in creation of assembly equipment PM check sheet, and PM schedule for assembly technicians

  13. Creates and maintains PM part list for consumable parts and repair parts used during routine PM process

  14. Works with outside vendors on the repair and improvement of assembly equipment, obtains competitive quotes, creates project plans, and oversees implementation to ensure their completion within the budget, timeline, and requirements outlined in the project plans

  15. Assists Manufacturing Engineering with the creation of Assembly Consolidation Plan, and evaluates and updates the plan with the Manager - Manufacturing Engineering on a quarterly basis

  16. Works with the Manufacturing Engineers to help provide resources to complete the line consolidation in accordance with the timeline and information provided in the Manufacturing Engineers' micro-schedule

  17. Create and maintains library of SOS's for Standard equipment troubleshooting and repair procedures

  18. Works with production and engineering management in Assembly to develop/update the skill level evaluation process for the assembly technicians, and to create a training plan to elevate their skill level

  19. Mentors and/or coaches the assembly technicians, provides training, and evaluates their skill level and capabilities for classification advancements

  20. Provides technical support for continuous improvement of production equipment and processes

  21. Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Education & Experience:

a. Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related discipline, plus 4 to 6 years of experience in a manufacturing environment; OR

b. Associate's Degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related discipline, plus 6 to 8 years of experience in a manufacturing environment

  1. Other Experience:

a. Manufacturing experience to include 1 to 3 years in a supervisory or lead role

b. Experience in an automotive manufacturing environment is preferred

  1. Strong Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities in the following areas:

a. Technical skills - mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical aptitude

e. Leadership and coaching skills

f. Computer skills - proficiency using MS Office and MRPH Software

g. Written and verbal communications and presentation skills

h. Interpersonal skills - to confidently interact with individuals at all levels of authority and maintain composure in pressure situations

Salary Range: $85,000-$98,000
